Along central California's old Highway 99, this peculiar old round
OJ Stand was replaced by a shiny new square building a quarter
mile further down the road. The old one was left to molder. 160T

The second floor corner office in the abandoned gas station /
general store in Lockhart, CA. In the Mojave desert near Barstow.
Canon 20D. Night, full moon outside, completely dark office, natural
flashlight rotated on it's axis on the floor and up at the ceiling.
The windows are composited from a different exposure (with no
light painting) to cover up the strong reflections from the flashlight
on the glass. I knocked back the opacity of the window layer to
keep a small amount of the reflections. See

the 2nd feature. This little bit of Americana was bulldozed shortly
after this photo was taken and is now a condo development. 160T

U.S. Route 491 in 2003 from pressure by Christian groups and an
AZ highway department tired of replacing stolen signs. 160T film,

2000
The YESCO sign boneyard, Las Vegas, NV. 160 Tungsten film, night,
full moon, sodium and mercury vapor lights, blue and red-gelled
strobe flash. This shoe is 15 feet tall.
Legendary location seen in many TV shows and movies containing
hundreds of old signs. Almost everything here was donated and
moved to the Las Vegas Neon Museum across town shortly after I
shot here, this lot was turned into more manufacturing/warehouse
space.
